I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. I wanted to post, but my camera batteries were dead, even though they were in the charger which was plugged in. Weird. Next day it was gloomy so I figured one more day, then I can't remember what happened yesterday, but I'm here now :)
I received my gorgeous yarn from Yarn Chef:
The colorway is called "polyester suit". I had a difficult time picking out the yarn. Katy has so many beautiful colorways, but I settled for a more subdued color. Perfect for jeans...if it goes with jeans I'm good to go! The yarn came beautifully wrapped with a recipe and a stitch marker. My very first of this type of stitch marker and it's even color coordinated tp match my new yarn. I'll be so happy to knit with this yarn. It feels heavenly. Many thanks to Jeanne. Remember the contest I won by being her 2001st commenter? Such a nice gift from such my wonderful and generous knitting friend :)
Sunday I finished the baby blanket with time to spare.
The photo is horrible. Today it's pretty gloomy, but I had to get my post done. Here is a picture of it folded up...it's a tiny bit better.
Currently I'm working on Kate's (my eldest, special girl) Christmas present. Gee, I sure hope she doesn't read my blog. I know my son does briefly. I'm sure she's too busy with school to be curious about my knitting. I have the first slipper (Fiber Trends Felted Clog pattern) almost done.
Now all it need is to be sewn up. Then felted, but first I have to make it's mate. She LOVES fuzzy things, so we thought she would like the fun fur trim. After I finish the mate I swear I'll never knit with fun fur again!! I detest knitting with it. In the past I've made scarves, which was ok, but I have never had so much grief putting a little bit of a cuff on before. Never again! Good thing I love Kate or I would have aborted this idea :)
I have my yarn all bought and ready to knit three more pairs of slippers...all before Christmas...I think I can do it...I think I can :)
Pretty yarn and that blanket is soooo nice! I don't like knitting with fun fur either - at all! (I use it for the beards on gnomes) My mil loves to make fun fur scarves - I don't know how she can stand it! : )
ReplyDeleteShe's alive! lol
ReplyDeleteI love, love that yarn...will have to check them out...I am beginning to get a taste for the "yummy" yarns...I'm becoming a high maintenance knitter, oh no! Love the blankie...it's so pretty. I would love to have some of the felted clogs but I want someone else to knit them. lol I would hate to go through all that work and end up with something that doesn't fit. I have a fear that I will felt them too much.
Good luck with the Christmas knitting...working on mine too.
Hugs!
Ohhhh - I love those fuzzy slippers - how cute!
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is so nice - is it knit or crochet? And the slipper is just too cute - I'm sure she'll love it. I'm not fond of fun fur, but I think cuffing with it is really a cute idea. Gorgeous yarn!
ReplyDeleteoooh! gorgeous yarn and the blanket looks great!
ReplyDeletei'm sure you can finish your gifts by Christmas! you've knit much larger projects in less time! : )
The new yarn is beautiful. I have never knit with that sock yarn. I can't wait to see it knitted up.
ReplyDeleteThe baby blanket turned out great!!
I am not a fan of fun fur either. I don't mind the Crystal Palace Fizz as much though, but I am not really a fan of any of the novelty yarns. But it sure look cute around the clogs.
i was wondering if you had picked out your yarn chef yarn yet. pretty! that's so cool she sends a recipe too. :) the baby blankie looks wonderful. kate's clogs are cute--you must love her to have endured working with that fun fur! I gave it up a while ago myself. ;) You'll be done with those other slippers in no time!
ReplyDeleteOh, what gorgeous yarn! Lovely baby blanket! I use fun fur only for toys. For beards or hair, it's fun. My mom knits scarves with it, and lots of them. :o) I'll keep my fingers crossed, that you get your christmas knitting done in time! :o)
ReplyDeleteThe slippers with the cuffs will be delightful on the feet, but I can empathize with your never wanting to knit them any more.
ReplyDeleteThe ripple blanket is sure to be appreciated as well.
When I first saw your photo of the new sock yarn I though to myself - "perfect for jeans" :-)
your prize.. VERY nice! and that blanket turned out adorable! even in gloom lighting! can't wait to see those felted!... now get busy. You have a lot to do and 26 days!
ReplyDeleteI love the new sock yarn, can't wait to see what you make with it. The baby blanket is too cute! I have to agree... fun fur looks cute, but isn't worth the hassle. I wore the fun fur scarf I made this summer for a while yesterday. It's really itchy and weird, I'm not so sure that I like it???
ReplyDeleteLove the baby blanket! Such soothing colors!
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is just beautiful! I'm glad you did the second pic; the colors are much better appreciated in that one.
ReplyDeleteI'm bummed over my pics now that we're indoors more, too.
Can't wait to see the sock yarn all knitted up!
Kate is going to love the slippers. I'm interested in seeing those finished, too.
Love the blanket and the fuzzy slippers! At the rate you turn out FO's, I know you'll have no trouble with finishing those slippers in time! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving on this blue on your page - the blanket is fab!!

ReplyDeletetoo... fabulous in fact!
Such pretty yarn! The baby blanket is beautiful, and the slippers look great! I like the fun fur. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're doing such beautiful work! I especially adore the blanket, it's so great, and so are the slippers - the fun fur looks ever so cozy!
ReplyDeleteGreat knitting, as always! Love the baby blanket especially!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your daughter will love the slippers. I've never tried knitting with Fun Fur for that very reason--I'm not sure I have your patience! But they look great, and I'm sure they'll be beautiful when felted.
ReplyDeleteYour baby blanket is beautiful, as well. :)
I forgot to mention that I love your baby blanket. Very pretty. The slippers are going to be extra special with the fun fur. Good idea.

Your new yarn is gorgeous, very nice colorway. I'm also impressed by how quickly you can crank out stuff, especially such a nice blanket. I've been trying to finish a baby blanket I started 2 years ago!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful yarn! That baby blanket is absolutely gorgeous! I love the cuff on those clogs; you're so creative!
