ReplyDeleteI'm rather new to knitting and enthusiatically purchased 4 colors of that jumbo Joanne's rainbow boucle but am finding it a bit difficult to work up with my clumsy needle skills (it is so easy to split). Have you mixed with another yarn? The shawls are gorgeous and I'd love to find a use for all of this yarn without driving myself crazy in the process.

ReplyDeleteI used Lion Brand pound of love mixed with the Joann's rainbow boucle for the green and the pink shawls. The red shawl I used Caron Natura (big skein).
I hold the two strands together and knit I think with either a size 13 or 15 circular needle depending on how loose a knit you would like. I like this combination much better than the single strand of Lion Brand Homespun which splits and clumps. I have never worked with the Joann's yarn single strand. Mixing it gives it more body. I thought it was just too thin for the shawls. Good luck with your knitting. :)
Thank you so very much! I was despairing over how I was ever going to use this stuff up because I was getting to the point where I dreaded picking it up. I love the look and feel of it but it's a real pain to work with on its own.

ReplyDeleteoh, I love the idea of a burp towel! my niece definitely needs one because all they're using are washcloths and they don't have many. I love the story about the baby blanket you made using the strips that your mother had knitted too. :)Everything looks wonderful. Isn't it nice to have it all in one place? :)
