What a relief!

Yes, it is a great relief to finally finish these socks. While I am happy with the finished product, I do have to admit that I did not enjoy knitting them. I based my socks on the stitch pattern from the November Sock pattern. Way back in July, the 10th to be exact I began these socks. I used the basic toe-up sock recipe from my toe-up totem pattern, figuring two maybe three weeks tops and they should be done, but that was not the case. All I can say is that the stitch pattern was just plain awkward to knit and I would get tired of them and give up. Well, I trudged on and I am now so glad they are finally finished. I think I'll refrain from any sock knitting for a while. Here's the finished product:

I really like the yarn though. It's "soles and more" from Joann's. It's an inexpensive yarn, but is so soft and enjoyable to knit. Did you notice....both feet match? This time I was very determined to make sure both feet matched. Now I know to never forget an important step before knitting socks with a pattern or stripe. Take a few extra minutes to pull your yarn out from each skein and match it up with each other. The first ball I used from the center pull and the other I had to start from the outside in order to make it match. I found it amusing to think that if I had knit them as is, both from the center pull, they couldn't possibly ever had matched. I am really excited this tedious project finished. Now I'm free to pursue other projects.

Happy Knitting :)

  1. The socks are lovely. I'm afraid of self striping yarns because I feel like I will never get the socks to match.

  4. Wow, those stripes are perfect and cute! They look nice and long, too. I can see why it took so long to do them with the pattern being cranky and all.
I like some of the yarn at JoAnn's, too. I just started a shawl with one of my favorite yarns..Wool-Ease. No yarn snobs at my house..giggles.
    Have a great weekend!

  7. I am so glad you persevered! The socks are lovely!

I will admit that I am anal about getting my stripes to match too. I will piece the yarn together, if need be, to get them just so.

    GREAT job!

  9. Thanks for stopping by and seeing my bears!! A friend and I made these, and they'll be going on their trip this week!!

These socks are just wonderful!! I have to admit...I've started and then never completed a single sock. Why? I don't know...So, you've given me the impetus needed to finish up a pair!!

    Thanks!!

  11. Thanks for stopping by!! Yes, I can see Lydia using her Starghan for many years to come. I have an afghan that I made for my mom in 1976--still in perfect condition after many washing and dryings!!

Also, the water drinking increase seems to be working!! A big thanks to Toni for this very simple idea....now, to see how the weekend progresses which is usually when these occur...

HUMPH....work all week and then spend the weekend with this headache...hopefully I downed enough water to ward this off!!

Good luck to you, too, on your water increase!!
