Well, the felted clogs (Fiber Trends Pattern) are are finally finished! They dried in just under a week, six days to be exact. I attribute the relatively short drying time to the fact that it was a very cold week and our gas (heating) stove (fireplace) in our family room was turned up higher than usual. Friday and Saturday I sewed on non-skid soles on each and every one. I'll never make four pairs again at one time! I was just about going out of my mind with the sewing. I'm a knitter not a sewer. My youngest son (T) did give me a complement though without meaning to...he said..."Gee Mom I can't even see the stitches! You can't even tell they were sewn on." Here is the gang modeling their slippers, some willingly pulled up their pant legs, one in particular refused.
K's finished felted clogs
N's finished felted clogs
J's finished felted clogs - wins prize "most unwilling participant"
T's finished felted clogs
If you're interested in seeing closeups of the clogs, including their
non-skid soles I've posted the pictures in
my ravelry notebook. There you can see all the flaws. I'm just happy they fit everyone and they're wearable. It will be a LONG LONG time before I even think of knitting another pair of felted clogs!
Now on to bigger (maybe smaller) and better things.....happy knitting :)
super impressive.. start-finish!
ReplyDeleteWell, I think they look great! You did an awesome job.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with the sewing...it's not a skill I have by any means.
Can't wait to see what you're up to next.
Hugs and Happy Knitting!
Great job. Now I think you earned the time to knit something nice for yourself!
ReplyDeleteI understand how you feel about the clogs, but they look very good on the recpient feets! I think it was worth it. You have to let us know how well they held up to wear, if you remember. Have fun with your new projects! :o)
ReplyDeletethey are wonderful...I must get on with my other pair!
ReplyDeleteThey look good to me. I'm off to Ravelry to check out the non-skid soles!
ReplyDeleteThe slippers, ALL, look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYour sewing of the soles is neat as can be; very impressive! T is right; good boy. :) Aren't those little guys a Godsend!!
Hope your socks are coming along better than mine. My toe-ups are in the UFO bin for now...broke a new Harmony cirular needle. I think I'll crochet a litte capelet to lift my spirit. ;))
Knit happy!!
I'm glad they all turned out despite the scare they gave you. I see a bunch of happy feet in your photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!!! I really like them! How did the fun fur felt?
ReplyDeleteI think they look wonderful. And it looks like your family liked them, too! No flaws to be seen from here. :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice - they really look great!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!! Now, I need to knit a pair of those for me!
ReplyDeleteAng
wow, those are fab!
ReplyDeleteThey all look so warm and cozy. :-)
ReplyDeleteyay! it looks like all the clogs turned out well despite the "disaster" with the felting. i don't blame you for wanting to move on to different projects.. can't wait to see what you're up to! : )
ReplyDeleteLOVE THESE CLOGS! ABSOLUELY!
ReplyDeletelOOK COMFY!
OMG! Clogs-a-plenty and warm feet! I can't imagine hand sewing as much as you did through thick felting. I've done small bits and my fingers get so sore. I guess that's why thimbles were invented.
ReplyDeleteThose look good! I need to make some house shoes at some point. I was looking at a Japanese pattern book online that's nothing but house shoes, sewn and knitted.
ReplyDeleteThat's an impressive set of clogs! Great job!!
ReplyDeleteThey look great and oh-so-cozy!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you did a great job.
What a long time those things take to dry! I'll have to keep that in mind in case I ever make them.
