A hybrid sock

I just finished another sock :)This time it's a hybrid! Using the traveling vines pattern from More Sensational Knitted Socks which I combined with my favorite short row heel and toe from the Nutkin pattern to make this lovely lacy sock. I'm really enjoying sock knitting now...but one thing I'm not so happy about is that sock knitting with size 2 needles is very slow knitting! Now off to start the second sock...no second sock syndrome for me!

happy knitting :)

  1. Oh, Oh, Oh....I love this sock. Okay, I must find out all about this short row heel...I have so much to learn about socks but I am so loving it. I can't wait to make more.
I'm thinking a bigger yarn so I don't have to use such small needles.
Okay...going to look at some more socks.
    Hugs!

*I did cast on the second sock today..don't want that 2nd Sock Syndrome. :)

  3. You are a fantastic sock knittier. I love your socks. And yes, don't let yourself fall to the SSS, it is a terrible thing ... trust me.

  5. I love that sock too, Pink especially. Can this pattern be done with a self striping or variegated sock yarn too or only a solid color?

I just got 7 new skeins of sock yarn but no solid colors and I want to try a new sock pattern for my second pair.

  9. Oh, what a lovely sock! It might be slow knitting, but it's always worth it. I like to knit my socks with 2mm or 2.25mm the best.

  10. My first thought was "That was fast!" Then I read further and saw that you thought it went slowly.

I have a pair of socks on my knitting horizon. My wip is on hold until I can replace a needle.

To fight off withdrawal I'm playing PC games and reading.

  11. Beautiful sock! But if you think that size 2US needles are slow going, you should try socks on size 0US. They're torture, I tell ya. ;-)

  13. Very beautiful! Good for you for fearlessly mixing things up a bit.

The sock knitting on tiny needles -- I'm beginning to think those small needles are harder on the hands than larger ones. Sigh. I love me my sock knitting.

  16. What?! If you're a slow sock knitter, then that makes me... a really slow sock knitter. :) Very pretty sock you've got there!

  18. Very pretty - great pattern! Isn't it nice when you can find a toe or heel pattern you like and start using it all the time?

  19. That's really pretty! You know you're a good sock knitter when you can mix and match parts of the pattern. I'm impressed that you do not suffer from second sock syndrome! You'll be done in no time.

  24. AWESOME!!!
Come sit beside me and teach me to now to knit socks....it's on my list of things I want to learn how to do. Somehow the list keeps growing.

Loved the idea of using the plastic grocery bags to knit something Now I have to add that to my list of things I want to make.

Stop in for a visit, I'm pouring wine at 5, there's room for one more.

  25. That's the prettiest sock I've ever seen! A lovely combination of the best techniques in sock knitting. I'm in awe of the toes and heels as I look at the enlarged view. You're definitely a sock knitter, and a good one at that! Congratulations!

I'm on a new net service, can't even figure out my email, yet, but here, anyways.

  26. You make beautiful socks. Thank you for turning me onto that sock book and her first one, too. I am now a committed sock-a-holic. My little bag of sock in progress goes every where with me. Also, thank you for your comment on my blog.

  27. Love the socks!! The color is beautiful! What yarn is it?

  28. Both the Nutkin and Traveling Vine socks are beautiful. I still have yet to try socks. Know how you feel knitting with US2 needles, cuz I used that for my mitts, seemed to take forever. I can imagine how much more time it must take for socks because they are much longer than mitts.

  30. Amazing looking socks! I love how the pattern stands out so beautifully with that color! Size 2 ndls are about as small as I like to go; I can hardly believe there are people out there who knit socks with 00's (!)
