Waffles are good for breakfast AND doing the dishes!

Just finished another dishtowel. I based this towel on the Waffle Knit Dishcloth by Homespun Living. Ever since I saw this cloth on Cat's blog...I knew it was just waiting to be turned into a dishtowel.

My striped millend yarn didn't quite behave they way I would have liked it to...but I guess it looks fine for a dishtowel.
Here's a closeup of the pattern stitch, perfect for a towel.
It even looks good on the wrong side!
Does anyone know what this is used for? I found in with some of my mother's knitting stuff. I don't have a clue what it is :)
Look what Melanie gave to me:

  2. Wow, thanks! You make my day, too.

As to the mystery item, here's what it is -- you wind your laceweight onto the bobbin, hook it over the arm of your chair with the square-ish end, and knit away without tangles! OK, that's only a WAG (wild-a**ed guess).

  26. Could it be a yarn winder? I've not made dish cloths/ or towels. In my mind the towels look like they'd be too thick to work well; though quite pretty...think I might prefer to have them as decorations or perhaps placemats?
Swing by for a visit. Always fun to see projects someone else's made.

YOU MADE MY DAY and I told you so on my blog today.

  31. Hi,

I was just visiting your blog, from my sister's (Rachel)...I like the dish cloth and the size. Most of the dish / wash cloths I've seen have been small. I like large ones like this.

Also, I was very curious about the tool that you posted a picture of. It looks like a vintage ball winder for yarn or something like that. The squared off edge looks like it would fit onto a table or counter and then the spool is for a yarn wind around. :) Anyway, I was intriqued by it, but in my web search I couldn't find it...without knowing the name of what it is. Ha!

Anyway, nice to stop by...Angie (tuttletime)

  33. Thank you so much!!! I am so honored!!!

I love that dishtowel. That strange instrument is quite mysterious looking... Is that wooden part a spool? Could it be hooked onto something and be used as a bobbin?
