Monkey See, Monkey Do

I just finished my very first pair of monkey socks! After seeing too numerous to count examples of other knitting bloggers' renditions of monkey socks, I knew I had to give this pattern a try. Knitting my beautiful sock yarn from Jeanne was a joy. I love this wonderful pattern and now I know why so many others love it, too :)

They fit me perfectly! They are so soft and comfortable. I really enjoyed knitting with this fabulous yarn from Yarn Chef. I know I'll be knitting more of these socks in the future. The pattern was very easy to follow.
If I had know I'd have so much yarn left over, I would have definitely knit them a little longer. Oh, well, now I know....I also finished my DW towel using the DW cloth pattern x 6:
Fit's very nicely next to my sink. I'll enjoy doing my dishes and draining them on this towel. I'm sure it will be very absorbent.Lots of the striped yarn left over. Hope I can make another towel with what's left over. Not to bore you, but I finally finished another one of my big plastic bags:Way back in October my youngest son "T" helped me cut and link the plastic bags into yarn, so when he had the idea of using the blue (my last) Walmart bags on the bottom, I couldn't say no. This one is my fifth bag. The four bags that I previously made have been working out great. I take them with me to the supermarket and my only complaint is that they hold too much. By the time the clerk is finished filling the bags I can hardly lift them; they are just too heavy.

I have one more knitting project in the works - a prayer shawl. I can't even remember when I started it, so I guess I should try and finish it. Then what to knit next?...guess I have to put my thinking cap on :)

happy knitting everyone :)

  1. Ooooo...I love your socks...so pretty.
Did you do that towel in one piece or join them together. I really like that one. I have a small towel I made about a year ago and it's so much more absorbent than that store stuff.
I really like the way that bag looks with the blue bottom. Very nice.

    Hugs!

  7. Congratulations on your socks! They look lovely and comfortable too! The dishcloth is a great idea. I have so much cotton left in my stash, would love to make one but when? I like the blue on the bottom of your plastic bag, it was a great idea. To be in a state of asking "What's next?" - that's rare (for me at least). Oh, the freedom of having nothing on the needles, and to be able to choose something new!!! :o)

  8. The socks are great -- in color and style! I'm encourages by all the yarn you have left over too. I'll have to look into that yarn. I tend to like my socks to the knee.

  10. I love your recycled plastic bag. The blue bottom is so cute! I have so many of those plastic bags at home, usually I just take them back to Wal-Mart to be recycled, but maybe I should try one of these.

  11. What cute socks! Someday I'll have to try that pattern. (that is, if I ever have any spare time with anything else to work on! Goodness knows if that will ever happen) :) I love the towel too. The blue on the plastic bag looks great!

  12. greweat job on the socks. They look fantastic. I have yet to knit a piar of monkey socks but I think I will have too.

Your DW towel looks like it will be super absorbent. I don't know if I can say I will ever enjoy doing the dishes but I do like using my hand knit cloths when I do them.

And I love the latest bag. I love that blue bottom. Wonderful job as always

  13. Wow, those are truly beautiful socks! Don't you hate that about the length, though? I always either knit them too long or too short. Grrrrr.

Nice bag, too. I think you've got such a fantastic idea there!

  16. I love the Monkeys! I'm planning on knitting another pair for myself soon. Maybe right after I finish the pair that's on the needles.

Love the plastic bag too. I have been toying with the idea of making one, but I don't think I'd have the patience to cut all those bags!

  17. Love your Monkeys! I must be about due to make another pair myself.

I already have a bunch of the re-usable bags they sell at the stores, but those hold a lot, too, and I am always having to keep an eye out that they don't load *all* the liquids in one bag and all the bread in another, and other tricks they like to use to make just a few of the bags much, much too heavy. Hey, I used to bag groceries as a teen, and these people have all failed "Bagging 101".

  20. I love the socks too, I so want to learn to make socks.

I have the bags cut up and ready to make a shopping bag as well, just making the yarn so far. I like the blue bottom though.

Also I really like the picture in your header, I want something like that for my blog. Is that a picture you took and then put up there? I am so computer ignorant sometimes.

    Hugs!!!!
