Dishcloth addiction: an array of ball-bands
Knitting dishcloths one at a time, I didn't realize that I was accumulating quite a collection. This summer I have really been addicted to making soooo many. Now I keep looking and buying more yarn to make more...oh no not more! I've been looking for new patterns, too, especially unusual ones which interest me the most. If any one out there has a pattern or link to a pattern be sure and let me know. I love Dave's garterlac pattern. I finished my one and only garterlac dishcloth and I'm definitely making more. Now I have to stop blogging and knit more...

Wow! These look great! You do nice work and I love the colors. What is the variegated color you used in the second cloth in the pile - the one with ecru "mortar" below the green cloth?
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the compliment. I used peaches and cream #130 shaded pastels with white (not ecru). The picture was taken at night so the colors are a little off. I bought these 2 one pound cones at walmart and recently found out they will special order addition colors...which is nice as it's another excuse to buy more yarn :)
Those are really pretty, do you really use them for dishes? I've never really made any but they look like a fun knit.
ReplyDeleteI'm stuck on knitting socks.
I love them for washing dishes and they mop up spills like crazy. I also use them as a washcloth for myself. My husband is afraid to use them, but eventually he'll have to because I'm not buying any terry wash cloths ever again!
ReplyDeleteOnce you start knitting them I guarantee you will have a hard time stopping. It's very addictive!
Welcome to blogging, and WOW that is a lot of beautiful dishcloths! Clearly, I need to really try some--although since I am already addicted to socks, (with a minor in hats); adding another addictive knitting project might be dangerous!
ReplyDeleteThere are worse additions than knitting, right! I have always enjoyed knitting, but I think "now" is the "best" time because of the internet. It's fuel for my addiction...looking at and reading about everyones beautiful work and finding new patterns and techniques :)
ReplyDeleteYour dishcloth addiction rivals mine! What is it about those things? Are they adding something to the yarn that makes us crave them?
ReplyDeleteFor me it's the satisfaction that I am really making something useful. Now I think I want to try socks. The only problem is that I've heard they can be extremely addictive also...oh, no :)
ReplyDeleteDo you have a pattern for those dish cloths or did I miss it? Those are beautiful, especially when you see the whole group together!
ReplyDeleteLeslie,
ReplyDeleteThe dishcloth pattern is in the Mason-Dixon knitting book. Check out Mason Dixon KAL and you'll be amazed at what everyone is doing. As for the pattern, I started making them before I had the book. The pattern "ball-band" is found on the inside label of peaches and cream cotton yarn (1 lb. cones I got in walmart). Not sure if the small balls have it too, too. The pattern can also be found here:
